Lacklustre jobs data for September 2012

A lacklustre employment outcome for September. More people working, but even more people unemployed.

All of which saw the unemployment rate exceed market expectations Up from 5.1 to 5.4 per cent seasonally adjusted).

Interesting to note that with the significant jump in the participation ratio the employed to population ratio stayed flat. (This left me wondering how these numbers were being influenced by underlying population projections).

And hours worked ... while up in the month is still growing at a slow pace through the year (TTY).

Around the States ... Tasmania is still in its own world of pain and Queensland is creeping up there.
